Cookie Policy

Fnolwise, Inc. — Last updated: November 1, 2024

This Cookie Policy explains how Fnolwise, Inc. ("Fnolwise," "we," or "us") uses cookies and similar technologies on our website (fnolwise.com) and web-based platform. Because our platform processes sensitive commercial insurance FNOL data, we take a deliberately conservative approach to cookies and tracking.

1. What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They allow the website to recognize your browser, store preferences, and maintain session state. We also use browser localStorage for certain session state, which operates similarly but stores data locally in your browser rather than sending it to a server with each request.

2. Cookies We Use

2.1 Strictly Necessary Cookies

These cookies are required for the website and platform to function. They cannot be declined without breaking core functionality.

Name Purpose Duration
fw_session Platform session authentication for Carrier Client users Session
fw_csrf CSRF protection token for form submissions Session
fw_cookie_accepted Stores your cookie consent choice (localStorage) 12 months

2.2 Functional Cookies

These cookies remember your preferences to improve your experience. They are set only if you accept cookies.

Name Purpose Duration
fw_prefs Remembers platform UI preferences (e.g., table column layout) 6 months

2.3 Analytics Cookies

We use anonymized, aggregate-only analytics to understand website traffic patterns. We do not use analytics cookies that create individual visitor profiles or share data with advertising networks. Analytics cookies are set only if you accept cookies.

Name Purpose Duration
_fna_id Anonymous session identifier for aggregate traffic analytics (IP anonymized) 90 days

2.4 No Advertising or Third-Party Tracking Cookies

Fnolwise does not use advertising cookies, retargeting pixels, social media tracking scripts, or third-party behavioral profiling technologies on our website. Given the sensitive commercial insurance context in which our users operate, we consider this a baseline data handling standard, not a feature.

3. Cookies and FNOL Data

Cookies used within the Fnolwise platform (not the public website) are strictly limited to session management, security (CSRF protection), and user preference storage. No cookies on the platform contain, reference, or expose FNOL claim content, policy numbers, or claimant information. All sensitive claim data is handled server-side and never stored in browser-accessible cookies or localStorage.

4. Managing Cookies

You can control cookies through:

  • Our consent banner: Select "Decline Non-Essential" to prevent analytics and functional cookies from being set. Strictly necessary cookies will still be set for security.
  • Browser settings: Most browsers allow you to block or delete cookies. Note that blocking session cookies will prevent Carrier Client platform login.
  • localStorage: Your cookie consent preference is stored in localStorage (key: fw_cookie_accepted). You can clear this through your browser's developer tools to reset your consent choice.

5. Changes to This Policy

We will update this Cookie Policy to reflect any changes in our cookie practices. Material changes will be noted with a revised effective date and, where appropriate, a new consent prompt.
